General Canby Day

Veteran's Marching Canby is known as a family-oriented town, and nothing reflects that better than the city's biggest annual celebration - General Canby Day. Held each Fourth of July, the celebration in honor of the town's namesake is centered around beautiful Wait Park, Activities through-out the day include an early-morning fund-raising breakfast, cake walks, games for the kids, and the afternoon parade. Musical acts provide entertainment throughout the day from the park's gazebo, and food and craft vendors keep bellies full and interests aroused.  The busy day is concluded with a 10 p.m. fireworks show at Trost Elementary School.

Harvest Fun in Canby

Fall is a glorious time of year in the Pacific Northwest. Seasonable temperatures, beautiful scenery and a bountiful harvest set the stage for a "Big City" escape. Folks head to the outskirts of the Metropolitan area to enjoy the fertile countryside that buffers the region and visit the many argi-business destinations. From fresh-cut and dried flowers, to your family jack-o-lantern, you can find it growing in Canby.

Fir Point Farms is located right off of I-5 in the Canby area. This is a delightful stop on your adventure in Canby. Pick your own flowers, berries or corn; play in the hay pile; visit the green house and herb garden; picnic in the trees; and shop in the Farm Market full of fresh produce and county treasures. This family farm also hosts several seasonal events - from a corn-on-the-cob eating day to a Pumpkin Fest each weekend in October. Call 530-678-2455 for directions or additional information.

Kids and grownups alike delight in riding the Phoenix & Holly Railroad located at The Flower Farmer. This 15-inch narrow gauge train is modeled after the Denver Rio Grande & Western and holds kids of all ages and sizes! Train rides pass through fields of beautiful flowers, a petting zoo and in October, families can visit the Pumpkin Patch. Nighttime rides during the Harvest season often have a slightly "haunting" affect on the passengers. The farm is located on north Holly street in Canby. For information call 503-266-3581.

All of these destinations offer a unique experience for visitors to Canby.
