City residents oversee local electric and water service through the Canby Utility. Power rates for all customers are well below those in Portland and the surrounding communities. Also indicating the self-contained environment is Canby Telephone Association, an independent cooperative telephone company. Willamette Broadband provides quality cable television programming, high-speed broadband technology and commercial television advertising to local and outlying areas. Canby Police Department applies a strong community-oriented philosophy in providing police services and strives for a high level of cooperation between the Department and citizens. The Police Department offers a broad base of proactive programs, including neighborhood watch, bicycle safety and crime prevention.
